2008 PROGRAMS & AREAS OF EMPHASIS
MiVIA™ Program
An electronic medical record program. Individuals and Health providers (with
permission) can access an individual’s medical record from any internet terminal.
Each via member is provided with a card that contains picture identification,
emergency information and a free e-mail
account.

• No documentation needed.
• Year round service.

Matriculas
Every year we invite the Mexican consulate to Sonoma and issue hundreds
of matriculas, which act as official identification for migrant workers and
their families. Two months before the event we begin the registration process.

Camps
• Subsidizing camp rents from $10 a day to $5 a day.
• Providing and coordinating services for Vineyard Workers at the camps.
• Serving food (three times a week).
• Providing camp-site English classes.
• Conducting work safety classes.
• Providing clothing such as long sleeve shirts and gloves.
• Issuing blankets and sleeping bags.
Education
• Increasing our scholarships for sons and daughters of Agricultural workers
from three recipients in 2007 to six recipients in 2008.
Note: Our scholarships are two year awards.
• The continuation and expansion of our General Equivalency Diploma Classes
(Our high school diploma program in Spanish).
Health
• Health seminars conducted at the camps.
• Vineyard Worker Family seminars (Three seminars this year)
on community resources and healthy living.
• The 2008 Health Fair to be held in October of 2008 in Boyes Hot Springs.

Emergengy Services Throughout the Year
• Housing (Rental and Utility Assistance)
• Food, Clothing, Blankets, etc.
• Medical expenses and healthcare. Note: VWS makes every effort to
utilize other agencies that provide these services first and only provides
emergency assistance when other services are exhausted.
VWS Resource Center The General Fund
• Providing technology access.
• Outsourcing resources; connecting our clients with other agencies.
• Providing information and technical assistance such as filling out of
paperwork and job applications.
• General cost of providing services, such as phone, office supplies, etc.
