December 10, 2008             Press Release Upcoming Event

ROBLEDO FAMILY WINERY TO HOST A CELEBRATION OF THE VINEYARD WORKERS OF SONOMA VALLEY ON THURSDAY DECEMBER 18, 2008 FROM 5PM-7PM, ON BEHALF OF LOCAL NONPROFIT: VINEYARD WORKERS SERVICES

On December 18, 2008 The Robledo Family Winery will be lit up with Luminarias (illuminated decorative candle holders) in a beautiful display of support for the Vineyard Workers of Sonoma Valley. They will also be donating part of their proceeds from their wine room from December 11-18 to Vineyard Workers Services (VWS). What better way to donate than to stop by the Robledo Winery and pick up some holiday wine, while part of the proceeds benefit Vineyard Workers. If you don't know about the wonderful legacy of Robledo Family Winery as Vineyard Workers themselves and their contributions to Vineyard Workers here is your chance to learn about their fabulous story www.robledofamilywinery.com

They are really humble about their donations and support to vineyard workers. Just this year they provided VWS with a Live Auction Lot for the annual Sonoma Valley Wine Weekend which consisted of a row of Merlot grapes and was purchased by another generous supporter the Sonoma Mission Inn. They also donate part of their proceeds each quarter from the sales of their Bracero wine label. “They continue to donate without asking anything in return and never mention that proceeds from their wine sales go directly to VWS. The fact that they are not interested in using this as self promotion is a testament to where their heart lays, but I am proud to let people know of their generosity,” stated VWS Executive Director, Ken Ramirez. When Kenneth mentioned to Lazaro Robledo, their tasting room manager that there was a need to raise awareness and support for the Vineyard Workers, especially during the slow holiday season, his first response was to figure out a way to help. After a few conversations with family members they decided they would open up their doors and host a celebration in honor of vineyard workers and their families to raise awareness and support.

Also in the spirit of support for Vineyard Workers, the night will feature a silent auction of large Format and high end wines from the likes of Robledo, Sebastiani, Kunde, Larson Family, Coturri, Haywood, Wellington, Hanzell, Chateau St. Jean, Nicholson Ranch Winery and many more. People can purchase one of these magnificent wines for a Holiday Dinner, to give away as a gift or to hold onto for a special occasion. 100 percent of the proceeds from the purchasing of these bottles will go towards helping Vineyard Workers. Of course Robledo Wines will be on hand to taste as well as appetizers donated by Sonoma Valley’s own La Casa Restaurant. This is a “friend-raiser” event and along with good wine and food, some of the local Vineyard Workers who have benefitted from VWS and your generosity will be there to say "gracias."

Donations large and small are always appreciated and can be made on the night of the 18th, or online at www.sonomavws.org. There are only a limited amount of spaces for this event so,

North America s first Tasting Room and Winery established by a Mexican Migrant Vineyard Worker.
Robledo (ro’bla’do), n. for oak tree; strength, longevity and grace.

Reynaldo Robledo Sr. came to the U.S in 1968, crossing the border from Michoacan, Mexico on February 25 and starting work the very next day. He started pruning grapes on February 26 in Calistoga; “the grapes, that’s all I knew”. It’s this love of grapes, an intuitive touch, dedication and hard work that combined to earn him the ‘American Dream’.  http://www.robledofamilywinery.com/index.htm
